Abracademic

Access scholarly articles through your institution

Chrome Firefox Safari Open source

A browser extension for accessing scholarly articles through institutional proxies and open access sources. Available for Chrome, Firefox, and Safari (macOS and iOS).

Abracademic extracts identifiers like DOIs, ISBNs, and PMIDs from article pages, then routes them through your configured access method whether that's OpenAthens, EZProxy, LibKey, Unpaywall, Google Scholar, or Anna's Archive.

The extension also unwraps shortened URLs and normalises publisher URLs before processing, making it easier to reach full-text articles wherever you encounter them.

A more versatile spiritual successor to my EZProxy for Safari app.
